The Village of Meyerland hosted Boogie on the Bayou, an annual community event, and raised a total of just over $10,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association. Locally owned and managed by Retirement Center Management, The Village of Meyerland has been dedicated in raising funds for The Alzheimer’s Association since 2014.

Boogie on the Bayou was held on Oct. 26, at the Village of Meyerland and included community built scarecrows and wreaths as well as a live auction. Anthony Ormsbee, the executive director of The Village of Meyerland, showed off his auctioneer skills by selling a six-night stay at a Disney World Resort (donated by Lisa Ramsey of Empire Industries LLC), Houston Rockets tickets (donated by Family Tree In-Home Care), and a variety of other generously donated items to the highest bidders. All proceeds raised will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association for care, support and research. David Streusand, chief financial officer for the Alzheimer’s Association, said, “It was a wonderful event. The Alzheimer’s Association is thrilled to have RCMas one of their community partners.”

The Village of Meyerland will continue its efforts in supporting the Alzheimer’s Association by participating in the Mem- ory Walk on Nov. 19.
