- From staff and wire reports

DALLAS — Former NFL receiver Terry Glenn, who caught Tom Brady’s first touchdown pass with the New England Patriots in 2001, died Monday following a one-vehicle rollover traffic accident near Dallas that left his fiancée slightly hurt, officials said. He was 43.

Glenn died shortly before 1 a.m. at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, according to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office. Irving police are investigating the cause of the wreck at 12:18 a.m. on eastbound Highway 114, said Chelsey Jones, a police department spokeswoman.

Glenn, a former Ohio State star who lived in the Dallas area, was driving when the vehicle left the highway, struck a concrete barrier and rolled, authorities said. Glenn was ejected.

Glenn played 12 seasons in the NFL, from 1996-2007, including six with the Patriots, five with the Cowboys and another year in Green Bay. He finished his career with 8,823 yards receiving and 44 touchdowns.

The Patriots drafted Glenn seventh overall in 1996 when Bill Parcells was coach, and Glenn set an NFL rookie record with 90 catches for a team that reached the Super Bowl, losing to the Packers.

’98 Wimby champ Novotna dies at 49

Jana Novotna, who won the hearts of the tennis world when she sobbed on the shoulder of a member of the British royal family after a heartbreaking loss in the Wimbledon final, has died at the age of 49.

The WTA said she died Sunday in her native Czech Republic following a long battle with cancer.

Novotna won her only Grand Slam singles title at Wimbledon in 1998, eventually triumphing after two losses in the final at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in 1993 and 1997. She also lost in the 1991 Australian Open final.

While she finally captured the Grand Slam singles title she longed for in 1998, she won over the Wimbledon crowd five years earlier after wasting a big lead in the decisive set in a tough three-set loss to Steffi Graf.

Unable to hide her sorrow, Novotna cried on the shoulder of Britain’s Duchess of Kent at the prize-giving ceremony and was gently comforted by the royal, who told her: “I know you will win it one day, don’t worry.”

Novotna ultimately had her moment five years later when she beat Nathalie Tauziat in straight sets to win Wimbledon.

Daly re-signs with Dash

Forward Rachel Daly has signed a new contract with the Dash.

Daly is the first player to sign a new contract since the end of the 2017 season. Her new contract is the same as a majority of other National Women’s Soccer League contracts — a one-year deal with a club option for a second year. In other news: • The NWSL reacquired two-time champion FC Kansas City’s membership interest, effectively folding one of its inaugural clubs after five seasons. The announcement came days after the league announced a team in Salt Lake City. The move by the league is not relocation, meaning the titles won by FCKC in 2014 and 2015 will not transfer to Salt Lake City.
