Joseph John Maginot, born January 9, 1924 in Hammond, IN, beloved husband, brother, father and grandfathe­r, went home to be with the Lord on November 7, 2017. Joseph was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Corp of Engineers in the Pacific. He graduated from University of Illinois with a degree in Mechanical Engineerin­g and worked at Amoco Oil Company for over 30 years.

Joseph is preceded in death by: wife, Mary Anne, son Joseph Frances, siblings Ethel, Antoinette, Leonard, Carl, Richard, John and Alma.

Joseph is survived by: two sons, Ken (Dot) and George, three daughters, Therese (Frank Powers), Julie Fahy (Richard), Lorraine Porter (James), eleven grandchild­ren, Ashley, Drew, Kyle, Jim, Kellyn, Sam, Jamie, Josie, Bridgette, Will and Nick, Two Siblings, Sr. Lorraine Maginot and James (Helen) Maginot, plus many nieces and nephews.

Joseph enjoyed discussing technology, history, sports and politics, and was an avid learner even in his old age. He was a devoted family man, who loved to laugh and make all of us laugh. We will miss you Dad, Grandpa Joe. “One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life...” Psalm 27:4

A memorial service will be held on December 1, 2017 at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joseph Maginot’s name to the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 433 S. Carlton Ave, Wheaton, IL 60187 (helpaveter­an.org/ donate).
