PATRICIA ANN BENNETT MCMAHON

1929-2017

-

“Patsy Donahoe, Pat Bennett, Patricia McMahon arrived on the 7th of November 1929, and left on Friday, the 24th of November 2017. In between those dates I was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother and a friend. I have opened the door of my tomorrow from where, in time, I shall embrace you joyously and we will once again share laughter and love and the oneness of our “Divine Energy” which is eternally in our hearts.”

Patricia Ann Bennett McMahon passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, the 24th of November 2017, at the age of 88. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on the 7th of November 1929, to Mary Elizabeth Conry and William Vladimir Donahoe. She attended Catholic schools in Tulsa before moving to Houston in 1940 when her mother married Mr. Mills Bennett who later adopted Patricia. She attended The Kinkaid School, The Hockaday School and Finch Academy in Manhattan, New York. She married Dennis James McMahon in 1950 and had four children.

Patsy, Patricia, Pat, Mother, Aunt Pitty Pat and Grandmere were just a few names used by her friends and family. Her abundant spirit was evident in the way she lived her life. As a tireless host, she created many unforgettable nights filled with wit, conversation, laughter, hats, boas, feathers, and wigs. Her most treasured memories were made during long weekends at Los Compadres in Falfurrias, Texas with family and friends. She loved any game, backgammon and Onze being games of her choice. Pat loved her books and was extremely well read. The Sunday edition of The New York Times crossword puzzle was no match for her.

Patricia was preceded in death by her mother Mary Elizabeth Bennett, Mills Bennett, her brother William (Billy) Donahoe and Dennis J. McMahon along with numerous aunts. Surviving Patricia are her four children, Mills McMahon Toomey and husband Steve, Melinda McMahon Bowman, Patricia Anne McMahon and Dennis J. McMahon and wife Carla, grandchildren Steve Toomey and wife Tamara, Bill Toomey and wife Jennifer, Elizabeth Clampitt and husband Ryan, Philip Bowman, Mills Bowman and wife Carolina, Alison Prouty and husband Ted, Will Melton and Liam McMahon, as well as 13 greatgrandchildren. Additional family members include Dora Gonzales-Flores and Blanca Villarreal who brought great comfort and companionship to Patricia for over 50 years.

We would like to thank Marta Lazo and Becky Jaynes of Special Care Special People as well as the caring nurses and Doctors at Methodist Hospital and St. Luke’s.

A memorial service is to be conducted at three o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 28th of November, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family for a celebration of her life at her home that Tuesday evening at five o’clock in the afternoon.

In lieu of customary remembrances, and for those desiring, memorial contributions may be directed toward the charity of one’s choice.
