No. 22 Texas Tech handed first loss; A&M stays perfect

NEW YORK — Myles Powell scored seven of his 19 points in a span of 45 seconds to lift Seton Hall to an 89-79 victory over No. 22 Texas Tech on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden.

Powell was one of four Seton Hall (6-1) players to finish in double figures. Desi Rodriguez finished with 24 points while Khadeen Carrington had 16 and Angel Delgado 12.

Keenan Evans led the Red Raiders (6-1) with 21 points.

TEXAS A&M 78 TEXAS-RGV 60

D.J. Hogg and Admon Gilder each scored 17 points as the No. 9 Aggies used a 16-0 start to defeat the Vaqueros at College Station.

A&M (7-0) only led Texas-Rio Grande Valley (36) by seven points with more than seven minutes remaining before pulling away.

“We never really establishe­d a rhythm and put them away when we should have put them away,” A&M coach Billy Kennedy said of his team’s overall performanc­e.

MICHIGAN ST. 81 NOTRE DAME 63

Joshua Langford and Cassius Winston scored 17 points each to lead the No. 3 Spartans over the No. 5 Fighting Irish at East Lansing, Mich.

The Spartans (6-1) have won five straight since losing to Duke. Notre Dame (6-1) was led by Bonzie Colson with 17.

OAKLAND 97, TSU 87

Brailen Neely came off the bench to score 22 points and dish out 13 assists as the Golden Grizzlies held off the Tigers at Rochester, Mich.

Martez Walker also scored 22, Nick Daniels had 21 and Jalen Hayes had 20 for the Golden Grizzlies (4-3).

Demontrae Jefferson scored 25 points and Donte Clark 24 for Texas Southern (0-7).

WEST VIRGINIA 102 NEW JERSEY TECH 69

Jevon Carter’s 25 points led the No. 19 Mountainee­rs at Morgantown, W. Va.

West Virginia (7-1) led by 16 at the half. Anthony Tarke led the Highlander­s (3-3) with 13 points.

SAM HOUSTON ST. 77 ST. THOMAS 54

Jamal Williams scored 14 points to lead the Bearkats at Huntsville.

The Bearkats (5-3) jumped ahead 8-0 and never trailed to drop the Celts to 5-3.
