Dorothy Mae Caliva, beloved wife, mother, grandmothe­r, and greatgrand­mother, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 1, 2017, at the age of 91. Dorothy was born on March 18, 1926 in Caldwell, Texas. She spent her formative years in Bellville, Texas, but graduated from Crane High School after moving to Crane her senior year. Upon graduation, Dorothy moved to Houston to attend business school where she met Tony Caliva, her husband of 51 years. Dorothy and Tony married on April 5th 1943, and went on to have three daughters: Valerie, Stephanie, and Toni Denise. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Dorothy was also a small business owner. She owned and operated Hardwork Bazaar, a needle arts studio in Houston, Texas.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Anthony “Tony” Caliva, Jr.; and her parents, Irene and W.T. Sherwood. She is survived by her daughters: Valerie Oggero, Stephanie Pratt, and Toni Denise Wilson; her grandchild­ren: Kim Mingarelli, Bat Oggero, Kristen Kuyper, and Tony Ingebredts­en; and her great-grandchild­ren: Lauren Oggero, Nicole Mingarelli, and Vincent Oggero; who all will miss her and cherish her memories.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at First United Methodist Church, 2314 N. Grand Blvd., Pearland 77581, with visitation one hour prior to the service, starting at 10:00am. The Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Special thanks to Lillie Bolden and Brenda Hackle for providing Dorothy with loving care; and a heartfelt thanks to Bill Pratt, who cared for her throughout with love and compassion.
