LING BING KWAN

1937-2017

-

Ling Bing Kwan went to her heavenly home on November 30, 2017 after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Her firm belief in God and in Jesus Christ as her Savior supported her in her struggle and gave her peace. Bing was 80.

Bing was born on May 20, 1937 in the village of Ving Hing Lee, Guangdong Province, China to Franklin Lee and King Yee Chu. She is survived by her children, Nancy, Priscilla, Deborah and her husband Chuong Tran, Manuel and his wife Vi, and Patrick and his wife Marie Hernandez; her sister and brothers, Betty Wong and her husband, Jimmy, Frank Lee and his wife Terri and Ling Lee and his wife Ada; and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. Bing is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, John See Kwan.

For over 20 years, Bing and John worked in neighborhood grocery stores in Houston. In the summer of 1984, they opened the Best Burger Restaurant in Stafford, Texas. To this day, the restaurant continues to be a favorite among locals and is managed by her two sons and their hardworking staff.

Bing loved to travel. She and John crisscrossed the United States and Canada to see friends and relatives. They visited national parks, took cruises to Alaska and visited the sights in far flung places in Asia, Australia and Europe. Bing also loved to sew – everything from curtains to slipcovers and pillows to pajamas for members of her family.

Bing enjoyed gardening and volunteering at the local office of a Chinese Christian newspaper and interacting with the people that she brought to church. Her favorite Bible verses are Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079.

A celebration of Bing’s life will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.
