Lois Inez Chancey passed away at the hospital from heart failure December 21, 2017 surrounded by her family at the age of 91.

Lois was proceeded by her husband of 50 years W.B. (Bill) Chancey a retired HPD officer, parents Samuel & Sadie Matthews, sister Betty Lou Parker and step-sister Camille Burton.

She is survived by her two daughters Penny Chancey and Cindy Garcia, her husband Bobby Garcia as well as her three grand-children, Keith Garcia, Robert Garcia and Kimberly Garcia, who knew her as “Nannie”. Her sister Gloria Walton and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was a friend to all that met her and a giver of kindness to everyone she knew. Always thinking of others by volunteeri­ng at Houston Hospice for years, taking people for appointmen­ts, surgeries and staying by the people who had no family near by to help and visiting nursing homes. She devoted her time to family, friends and her church, St. Albans Episcopal during her life. Her lifes travels took her to many places near and far. One of her favorite things she loved to do with anyone and was always asking: “When are we going gambling”. Now she has taken her last trip to her final destinatio­n to reunite with friends and family that have passed, who she missed.

The family will receive friends from 5 PM-8 PM on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 at St. Albans Episcopal Church, 420 Woodard St, Houston, Texas 77009. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributi­ons in Lois Chancey name to St. Albans Episcopal Church, 420 Woodard St., Houston, Texas 77009.
