No. 19 A&M women take down Kentucky

COLLEGE STATION — Khaalia Hillsman scored 20 points, and Danni Williams added 19 as No. 19 Texas A&M held off Kentucky’s late surge for a 74-70 victory on Thursday night.

The Aggies (12-4, 1-1 Southeaste­rn Conference) rebounded from a 61-59 loss to No. 4 South Carolina in Sunday’s conference opener.

Hillsman scored six points, and Williams added five during a 15-7 stretch that spanned the third and fourth quarters for a 66-57 lead with 7:32 to play. Maci Morris scored six points, and Makenzie Cann made a 3-pointer as Kentucky used a 13-6 spurt to pull to 72-70 with 10 seconds left, but Anriel Howard made a pair of free throws for the Aggies to seal it.

Hillsman was 6-of8 from the field and made all eight of her free throws. Williams was 7-of-12 shooting and matched a career best with five 3-pointers. Howard finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds, her 11th straight game with at least 10 boards.

Morris scored 22 points to lead the Wildcats.

NOTRE DAME 83, MIAMI 76

Marina Mabrey scored 21 points, Arike Ogunbowale had 20 despite struggling from the field, and the No. 2 Fighting Irish survived an upset bid by the Hurricanes in South Bend, Ind.

LOUISVILLE 66, DUKE 60

Asia Durr had 22 points and came back from a first-half leg injury to grab a key rebound late that helped the thirdranke­d Cardinals survive a fourth-quarter rally by the No. 17 Blue Devils for a victory in Louisville, Ky.

TENNESSEE 70, AUBURN 59

Jaime Nared scored 19 points, Evina Westbrook made a tiebreakin­g basket with 1:43 left, and the No. 7 Lady Vols outlasted the Tigers in Knoxville, Tenn., to stay unbeaten.

MARYLAND 80, IOWA 64

Kaila Charles had 12 of her 24 points in the first quarter, Blair Watson had nine of her 13 in the fourth quarter, and the No. 13 Terrapins took control early to defeat the 18thranked Hawkeyes in a Big Ten showdown at College Park, Md.

LSU 69, MISSOURI 65

Chloe Jackson scored 22 points, including four free throws in the last 10.4 seconds, and LSU ended No. 15 Missouri’s 13-game winning streak with a victory at Columbia, Mo.

Men MICHIGAN ST. 91 MARYLAND 61

Miles Bridges had 15 points, seven assists, six rebounds and two blocks to help the No. 1 Spartans turn a closely contested game into another rout as they pulled away to beat the Terrapins in East Lansing, Mich.

Michigan State went on a 15-0 run late in the first half to take control and led 44-32 at halftime. The Spartans refused to be content, building 30-plus-point cushions in the second half by diving for loose balls, playing tough defense, and finishing with a season-high 16 3-pointers.

COLORADO 90 ARIZONA ST. 81

Namon Wright scored five of his 19 points in overtime, including a pair of crucial free throws at the end, and the Buffaloes upset the No. 4 Sun Devils in Boulder, Colo.

Tra Holder scored 24 points for Arizona State, which has dropped its first two Pac-12 games following a 12-0 start.

ARIZONA 94, UTAH 82

Deandre Ayton scored 24 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the 14thranked Wildcats never trailed in a victory over the Utes in Salt Lake City.

CINCINNATI 55, TEMPLE 53

Jacob Evans III hit the winner with 0.4 seconds remaining, and the No. 19 Bearcats beat the Owls in Philadelph­ia.
