BERTIE LOU GOODMAN

1931-2018

Bertie Lou Goodman, 86, passed away on January 4, 2018 in the Gardens of Bellaire nursing home in Bellaire, Texas in the presence of her family, and her loving caregivers. Bertie Lou has lived at Gardens of Bellaire near her daughter Robin’s home suffering from dementia since the death of her husband, Jerome in 2012.

Bertie Lou was known for her warm and generous personality, especially in the company of her children and close friends. Originally from Cambridge, Ohio, Bertie Lou followed her husband’s career in the oil business to New Orleans and Spring, Texas while they raised their children. She was an avid social golfer during her time in Spring, Texas and had many wonderful friends that she enjoyed spending time with. Above all, Bertie Lou was a passionate mother and advocate for her four children throughout their lives.

She was a true lover of animals and supported numerous charitable organizations, including the DAWGS rescue shelter in Dalhart, Texas. Her golden retriever, Buddy, a DAWGS alumnus, was one of her favorite pets who lived his life until spring of 2017 with her son, Britt, in Austin, Texas.

She is predeceased by her Mother and Father and her husband, Jerome. She is survived by her children, Desi and wife Suzanne Hall from Kenner, Louisiana, Robin and husband Kurt Stratmann in Houston, Texas, Brian and wife Rebecca Goodman in Helena, Montana, Britt and wife Janis Goodman in Austin; Texas, her grandchildren, Marie Goodman in Portland Maine, Hannah Goodman from Los Angeles, California, Meredith Goodman from Austin, Texas and Olivia and Jeremy Stratmann from Houston, Texas.

The family wishes to thank Caregivers, Rosita Dimas, Terri Copland, Leisa Meyer and Phyllis Rodriguez, for their love and support of Bertie for many years both in her home and at the nursing home.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 2:00PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery. Donations in her name to the American Cancer Society.
