WHAT TO WEAR

This is what you read when you want to dress like you’re in charge, like every other boss.

It’s the first black-tie event of the season and a must-do for upwardly mobile smallbusiness owners aspiring to become one of Houston’s major profit players.

Slim Thug’s fifth annual “Boss Life Ball” celebrates and supports local entrepreneurship by honoring two of America’s most recognizable moneymakers: Tilman Fertitta and Daymond John. Fertitta’s claim to fame includes ownership of Landry’s Inc., Golden Nugget Casinos and, now, the Rockets, as well as being a potential dreammaker on “Billion Dollar Buyer.” John’s notable résumé lists founder of apparel company FUBU and being one of the titular investors on “The Shark Tank.”

And consider the venue. Sunday night’s fundraiser takes place inside Minute Maid Park’s Union Station, otherwise known as home of the World Series-winning Astros.

Sartorially speaking, the stakes are high.

Here, Melodrama Boutique fashion ambassador CC Sutton models how to dress for success. She and her husband, Tristen, established Sutton Impact to connect entrepreneurs with industry leaders through events like the #BossTalk Brunch series.

But back to the clothes. CC’s festive — yet relatively professional — backless gown personifies “business in the front, party in the back.” For extra oomph — a memorable first impression is essential to clinching the deal — she added a faux fur wrap.

Each minimally markedup piece rings in under $100; because as every entrepreneur knows, sometimes, you have to spend money to make money.
