Spencer W. Parsons passed away in Houston, Texas on the 17th day of January, 2018. Spencer was born on the 25th of April, 1930 in Wichita, Kansas to Clarence Parsons and Helen Welsh Parsons.

Spencer married Monique CAMY in France in 1956. The family moved to Cambridge, Massachuse­tts in 1959 where Spencer attended the Graduate School of Design and worked as an architect. In 1969, they moved to Houston, where Spencer enjoyed teaching at Rice University for 44 years.

Spencer was an Associate Professor of Architectu­re at Rice University. He received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan, a Certificat d’Etudes from the Sorbonne and a Masters in Architectu­re from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Spencer received the National Defense Service Medal from the U.S. Army.

Spencer is survived by his brother, Allen Parsons, brother Clarence Parsons and his wife Sue Parsons; and three children; Sylvie Parsons, Marc Parsons, Paul Parsons and his wife Claire Gastambide along with granddaugh­ter Stella Parsons. Spencer is preceded in death by his wife Monique Parsons. Spencer will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Graveside service and Rite of Committal will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on January 24, 2018 at Glenwood Cemetery, 2525 Washington Ave., Houston, Texas 77007. In lieu of flowers the family ask that contributi­ons be sent to Doctors without Borders as an honorarium. Condolence­s may be sent to 4414 Nenana Drive, Houston, TX 77035.
