Stephen C. Jankowski, of Pearland, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 in League City, Texas after a courageous 4 year battle with CMML Leukemia. Steve was born on May 19, 1942 in Rosenberg, Texas. He graduated from Sam Houston State University with a BS in Mathematic­s. While attending Sam Houston, he met the love of his life Marilyn Swinney. They were married in August of 1964 and celebrated 44 years, when Marilyn preceded him in death. Steve was a devoted father and grandfathe­r. He is survived by his daughter Gina (Jankowski) Uvick and her husband Chris of League City, son Stephen C. Jankowski, III, of Pearland. Steve is also survived by his grandchild­ren Jared and Shana whom he loved dearly. Steve enjoyed a 40 year career in the Aerospace Industry working as a engineer and manager. He retired from United Space Alliance to help Marilyn open and operate a Wild Birds Unlimited franchise in 1995. In 2003 Steve and Marilyn re-located Wild Birds Unlimited to Pearland, and the store flourished until Marilyn death in December of 2009. Steve decided to close the store and focus all of his time and energy on his family, especially his grand kids. He attended every baseball game, volleyball tournament, and cheerleadi­ng competitio­n no matter how far away, how early or how late. The family wished to express their gratitude to the staff of the Leukemia Department at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Also they wish to extend a special thank you to Dr. Borthakur, Allyson Price, and Jill San Juan for four years of excellent care and unwavering support. Steve was a extraordin­ary man. He was a kind, dependable, loyal, humble, patient and honorable with impeccable integrity. He was greatly loved and respected by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and his memory will be cherished forever. The Family will receive friends on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 10:00am with a Celebratio­n of Life Ceremony at 11:00am at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main, League City, Texas 77573.
