Ina Yvonne Gruber Porter (known to many as “PeeWee”) passed away on January 19th following an extended illness. She was born in Houston, Texas on August 2, 1926 to Beulah M. and Gus A. Gruber, and was preceded in death by her parents, brother C.J. Gruber, husband Robert (Bob) Earl Porter, and son Robert Earl Porter, Jr.. Ina was independen­t, smart, witty, and generous. She forged a successful and groundbrea­king career as an oilfield and industrial pipe designer, working for top companies in Houston and New Orleans, where she and Bob lived for many years. Ina is survived by daughter Elisabeth Tsubai, son-in law Kenzo Tsubai, granddaugh­ter Miko Tsubai, sister-in-law Laura Gruber, nephews Ross Walton (Dee) and Randall Walton (Victoria), dear friend and ‘second daughter’ Mary Kowalski, goddaughte­r Lisa Morello (Louis), and long-time friend Dick Gauthier (Peggy). The family would like to extend their gratitude to the many friends who provided support in her last months, staff and friends at Holly Hall Retirement Community, her caregivers from Houston Hospice with special thanks to Rebekah Duplechin, and the Reverend Hannah Atkins and parishione­rs from Trinity Episcopal Church, Midtown. A memorial service will be held in February.
