Sally Kate Marshall Weems passed away peacefully on January 31, 2018 at the age of 80. She was born in Houston, Texas on August 7, 1937 to Lt. Col. Robert T. Marshall and Aletha Gardner Marshall. She was baptized into the Methodist faith on Christmas Day 1937 by her beloved grandfathe­r, Rev. Dempsey W. Gardner. Sally Kate was a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Lamar High School (1955) and an alumnae of Southern Methodist University (1959), where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Sally Kate was a patron of the Junior League of Houston, a volunteer for the Harris County Heritage Society, and a sponsor of the Chappell Hill Historical Society. She participat­ed in the Senior Adult Council and Mainstream­ers at St. Luke’s UMC. Sally Kate was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Howze Weems, son, Robert Walter Weems, and granddaugh­ter, Leigh Alicia Masie. She is survived by her daughter, Marshall Ann Ponce (Tony), step-children, Elizabeth Masie (Greg), Ruth Weems, Thomas Weems, and Robert Weems, daughterin-law Jamet Weems Crater, cousins Dr. David W. Gardner (Jackie) and Ruth Ellen Gardner Wilkins (Barry). She has fifteen grandchild­ren and eleven great grandchild­ren. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in River Oaks on Wednesday, February 7, at 1:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Rev. William Denham. A reception with the family will follow in the Hines Baker Room.
