THREE TO WATCH
MARCEL HIRSCHER ALPINE SKIING
Hirscher, who has won six consecutive World Cup overall championships and has won 10 races this season, has 55 career victories, surpassing Austrian legend Hermann Maier’s 54. The combined is the first of three events for Hirscher, who has yet to win a gold.
MIKAEL KINGSBURY FREESTYLE SKIING
The silver medalist in moguls at Sochi, Kingsbury is favored for the gold, and why not? The Canadian has won seven of his last eight World Cup events and has more international victories (49) than anyone in the sport’s history.
ERIN HAMLIN LUGE
In 2014, Erin Hamlin became the first American to earn an Olympic medal in singles luge. She tacked on three medals at the 2017 world championships, increasing her career total to four and raising her expectations to be at the top of the podium in Pyeongchang.
