L. Dean Miller, age 73, passed away at the WatkinsLogan Military Veteran’s Home in Tyler, Texas on Sunday, December 17, 2017. He was born on September 30, 1944 in Herrington, Kansas to Donald, and Ina (Swanson) Miller. On May 28, 1966, he married Donna Lynn Hard and together, they had their first child. Shortly after receiving an honorable discharge from the military, he moved his family to Houston, Texas to pursue his passion for carpentry. They welcomed their second child as Dean continued to work as a construction foreman for other contractors in the Houston area. In 1985 he started his own business as a general contractor and worked six days a week until his retirement in 2006. On Sundays, he put aside his own business and worked as an apprentice for another carpenter, Jesus Christ. His devotion to the church and to his family was self-evident in everything he did. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Donna; their children Steven, and Staci; brothers and sisters Donna, George, Valere, and Alfred; three grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 10:00AM at the Hilton Garden Inn, 12101 Shadow Creek Pkwy, Pearland, Texas 77584.
