Gonzaga wins WCC crown

LAS VEGAS — Killian Tillie scored 22 points, and No. 6 Gonzaga raced away to its sixth straight West Coast Conference title with a 74-54 victory over BYU on Tuesday night.

Gonzaga (30-4) appeared as if it would lock into a defensive battle with BYU (24-10). The Bulldogs turned it into a title-game rout with a halftime-spanning 36-6 run to win their 17th WCC title.

COLONIAL ATHLETIC

Joe Chealey had 32 points, and the College of Charleston rallied from 17 points down in the second half to win the Colonial Athletic Associatio­n Tournament title and earn its first NCAA Tournament berth in 19 years with an 83-76 overtime win against Northeaste­rn in North Charleston, S.C.

NORTHEAST

Joel Hernandez had 32 points, and LIU Brooklyn shocked New York City rival Wagner 71-61 to win the Northeast Conference Tournament title and earn its first NCAA Tournament bid in five years.

SUMMIT

David Jenkins scored 29 points, and South Dakota State beat South Dakota 97-87 in Sioux Falls, S.D., to win the Summit League Tournament championsh­ip, clinching the Jackrabbit­s a third straight NCAA Tournament berth.

HORIZON

Grant Benzinger had 19 points to help second-seeded Wright State beat eighth-seeded Cleveland State 74-57 in Detroit to win the Horizon League Tournament title and earn an NCAA Tournament bid.

Women AMERICAN ATHLETIC

Gabby Williams scored 19 points to lead No. 1 Connecticu­t to a 70-54 victory over 19thranked South Florida in the American Athletic Conference championsh­ip at Uncasville, Conn.

Tournament MVP Azura Stevens added 13 points for the Huskies (32-0).

Kitija Laksa scored 26 points to lead South Florida (26-7).
