ESTELLE MARIE PRUITT BYRD

1928-2018

Estelle Marie was born on December 10, 1928 in Sagerton (Haskell County) Texas to Bland Pruitt, Sr. (1908-1966) and Nannie Hardwick Pruitt (1907-1989). The Pruitt family moved to Houston, Texas in 1939. Growing up in Houston, she was called “Estelle” by her family and “Marie” by her friends. She graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in 1946 and married John Nelson Byrd (1925-1996) on August 6, 1948. Estelle Marie worked as an accountant and retired from Exxon Oil Company in 1982.

She is survived by her four children, John Terry Byrd (Deborah), Jerry Nelson Byrd (Victoria), Barbara Byrd Hansel and Joel Daniel Byrd. Her three grandaughters, Misty Head (Sundance), Dr, Ashley Cox Srnka (Erik) and Holly Hansel. Her great-children, Levi, Persais and Brazos Head, Colton and Coralie Srnka. Her three brothers James Pruitt(Dolores), Bland Pruitt, Jr. (Joyce) and Daniel Pruitt (Kay), Her three sisters, Helen Miller, Nelda Giles (Robert), Anita Hall and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are being held at Kingwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Tuesday March 13, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 9:00pm and funeral service on Wednesday March 14, 2018 at 11:00 am. Interment will be on Thursday March 15, 2018 at 11:00 am at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

Her family would like to express their appreciation for the care that our mother received from her neighbor Angel Durante, Visiting Angels and TriCare Hospice during this difficult time.
