Mary Ruth Swinney, 78, of Houston, Texas left to be with Our Lord on Sunday, March 11, 2018. She was born on October 10, 1939 in Clarksvill­e, Texas to Thomas and Myrtle (Arnold) Logan.

Mary graduated from Davis High school and then spent a long career and ultimately retired with the Shell Oil Corporatio­n in Houston, Texas. Mary’s time with Shell Oil gave her great joy and is where she met many of her life long friends that she loved to spend time with and most importantl­y laugh with well into her retirement years. Mary deeply loved her family and her friends; who were the life blood that sustained her. It was really us that are the privileged to have had her in our lives.

Mary is predecease­d by her husband; Clifford Elvis Swinney, her Mother; Myrtle Logan, her Father; Thomas Alton Logan, her brother; Thomas Logan, her sister in law; Belle Fincher and sister in law; Edna “Sis” Harper. Mary is survived by her devoted son; David Lee Pettus, her precious Daughter in Law; Teresa I. Pettus, and her loving grandchild­ren; Elizabeth Lee Pettus, Jackson David Pettus and Sophie Inez Pettus; who will surely all miss her every day of their lives. Mary is also survived by her loving sister; Shirley Jean Cato; who Mary adored and looked up too; Shirley will surely miss her baby sister dearly. Mary is also survived by her sister in law; Wanda “Perk” Long; who could make Mary laugh like none other. Mary is further survived by her step-son; Alton Duane Swinney, his wife; Kathey Swinney and their children; Amanda Swinney, Heather Swinney and Dillon Swinney and her great grand children; who Mary loved all deeply and felt their love back.

Rest now my sweetest angel, Rest and go knowing you will always be in your family and friends hearts and we will all smile when you cross our minds. Mom; The Honor is mine to be your Son.

Funeral service will begin at 11:00 am Thursday, March 15, 2018 with one hour of visitation beginning at 10:00 am at Pat H. Foley and Company, 1200 W. 34th St. Houston, Texas. Following the service will be a reception. A private graveside service will be held later for the immediate family only.
