RICHARD EDWARDS WORKMAN

1930-2018

Richard Edwards Workman, age 88, passed away at home on Saturday, February 17, 2018, in Schertz, Texas. Born January 1, 1930, in Tipton, Iowa to Harold B & Elizabeth G (nee Edwards) Workman. The family moved to Texas in 1937. He worked for United Gas Pipe Line Company living in San Antonio, New Orleans, and Houston. Richard married Sylvia J. Jones in 1957 in Goldthwaite, Texas. They were married for 53½ years before Syl passed away from cancer in 2010. He was a member of Fair Haven UMC in Houston, a Sunday school teacher and participated in Methodist Men. Near the end of his life Richard reconnected with an old girlfriend, Nancy Curtis Hagen. They were married in 2012 and he moved to Schertz, Texas.

He is survived by his daughter Pam & husband Bob Lanham, his daughter, Melanie & husband Mike Martin, grandson Ryan Martin & wife Amy, granddaughters Tiffany Martin and Jenny Lanham, great-granddaughters Kylie Eastman, Emery Martin & Brynn Martin, his brother Stanley Workman, his 2nd wife Nancy and her daughters Karen Mauch and Elaine Newcomb, and other cherished family members and friends.

A celebration of life service will be at Fair Haven United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 2:00pm in Houston, Texas.
