Johnnie was born on July 28, 1924 in the small town of Flatonia, Texas. In 1942 Johnnie was drafted into the Army and went through basic training at Camp Wolters in Mineral Wells, Texas. He went on to serve his country in the Philippine­s as a Staff Sergeant and received multiple medals including Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal and others. After the war, Johnnie headed to Houston where he met the love of his life, Florence Petrosky. He began working the only job he would ever know, House of Frames. On April 21, 1951 Johnnie and Florence got married and lived in their Southeast Houston home for the next 63 years. Johnnie was a dedicated Catholic and a life-long member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. He also loved playing dominoes and Tarocks and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, KJT and SPJST. Johnnie was one of the kindest men ever to walk the earth and nobody had a bigger heart. We will miss him, but, consider ourselves blessed to have known him. Johnnie was called to be with the Lord on Friday March 23, 2018 and he will never be forgotten. His death is proceeded by his parents, John and Frances; his wife Florence; his brothers, Charles and John; and his sisters, Frances, Mary, Stella and Annie. He is survived by four children, Michael, Deborah, Susan, and Cheryl along with his seven grandchild­ren, twelve great grandchild­ren and sister, Rosalie.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate the life of Johnnie on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 5-7pm at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale St. Houston, TX 77023. A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 2320 Oakcliff St. Houston, TX77023 starting at 10:30AM and will be immediatel­y followed by Mass. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
