SISTER MAUREEN FITZPATRIC­K, C.V.I.

Sister Maureen Fitzpatric­k, C.V.I., died on April 7, 2018. She was born to Molly and James Fitzpatric­k on August 13, 1931 in Mullingar, Co. Westneath, Ireland.

Sister entered the Congregati­on of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament, Houston, on February 24, 1949 and made her final Profession of Vows on August 15, 1955. She was a graduate of Incarnate Word Academy, Houston, and received a B.A. Degree from the University of St. Thomas. She attended the Pastoral Institute of the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas, and completed the certificat­e program in Pastoral Studies.

Sister Maureen was an elementary school teacher and in her ministry of teaching, she taught in the Dioceses of Austin, Beaumont and the Archdioces­e of GalvestonH­ouston, where she also taught CCE classes. Sister kept in touch with many of her students over the years and enjoyed visiting with them.

In her retirement, Sister did volunteer ministry at St. Vincent de Paul Church Parish. In her later years, Sister Maureen devoted her time to the ministry of prayer. She prayed the Rosary daily for the many intentions that were given to her and her prayer group.

Sister Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother. She is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation will be on Monday, April 9, 2018 from 4:00-6:00 p.m., followed by the Wake Service at Incarnate Word Convent, 3400 Bradford Street, Houston, TX. 77025. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. in the convent chapel with Rev. Richard Wahl, C.S.B., celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
