MLB REPORT
BOSTON RED SOX
Shortstop Xander Bogaerts left Sunday's game against Tampa Bay in the seventh inning after injuring his left ankle while sliding into the Rays' dugout.
Bogaerts was covering third base and chasing a mishandling of a ball relayed by J.D. Martinez when he got hurt and was replaced by Brock Holt.
MILWAUKEE BREWERS
The club placed outfielder Christian Yelich on the 10-day disabled list with a right oblique injury and recalled reliever Taylor Williams from Class AAA Colorado Springs. Yelich went on the DL retroactive to Thursday, a day after he was hurt during a 6-0 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.
“The fact I don't remember doing it on a specific swing is probably good news,” Yelich said. “Discomfort kind of grew, and as a precaution, to make sure it wasn't worse, we kind of toned it back a little bit. It's really frustrating, you know? That's the biggest thing.”
NEW YORK METS
Zack Wheeler will be recalled from Class AAA Las Vegas to start Wednesday against the Miami Marlins, finally aligning the five-man rotation New York has hoped to use for years.
Mets manager Mickey Callaway announced Wheeler's upcoming start Sunday. It would be the first time Noah Syndergaard, Jacob deGrom, Steven Matz, Matt Harvey and the 27-year-old Wheeler make a rotation turn together.
