Knicks, Magic part ways with coaches

The end of the regular season brought coaching changes as the Knicks fired Jeff Hornacek and the Magic dismissed Frank Vogel on Thursday.

The Knicks finished 29-53 this season and lost more than 50 games both seasons under Hornacek.

“We looked out and we have a plan for what this team should look like over the next three years or so,” Knicks president Steve Mills said. “We just thought this was an opportunit­y where we thought it was the right time to make a change.”

Hornacek went 60-104 and had a year left on his contract. Vogel, who also had a year left on his contract, went 54-110 in two years with Orlando.

Encore season for Westbrook

Thunder guard Russell Westbrook became the first player to average a triple-double in multiple seasons. He averaged 25.4 points, 10.1 rebounds and 10.3 assists this season.

Attendance record set

The NBA set an attendance record for the fourth straight season, as 22.1 million fans attended games in the regular season, eclipsing the 21.9 million mark set during 2016-17.

The Wizards’ Mike Scott entered concussion protocol after sustaining a blow to the head Wednesday. The team signed Ty Lawson for the playoff series against the Raptors. … Hawks forward DeAndre Bembry has a fractured right wrist.
