Schwarber, Cubs pound Indians

CLEVELAND — Kyle Schwarber hit two of Chicago’s four solo home runs, and the Cubs defeated Cleveland 10-3 on Tuesday night in the first meeting between the teams since the 2016 World Series.

Chicago won three games in Cleveland’s ballpark during the 2016 Series and continued the trend against Josh Tomlin (0-3), who allowed all four homers. Willson Contreras homered in the third, and Ian Happ, who had three hits, hit one in the fourth.

BLUE JAYS 4, RED SOX 3 (10): Curtis Granderson hit a walkoff homer in the 10th inning as host Toronto won.

YANKEES 8, TWINS 3: Didi Gregorius had a two-run homer, Gary Sanchez homered twice, and Aaron Judge hit his seventh home run at Yankee Stadium.

METS 6, CARDINALS 5 (10): Jay Bruce had three of New York’s six hits, including the game-winning home run in the 10th inning at Busch Stadium.

REDS 9, BRAVES 7 (12): Tyler Mahle lost his no-hit bid in the seventh, and host Cincinnati blew a big late lead before Scooter Gennett’s walkoff homer in the 12th.

ATHLETICS 3, RANGERS 2: Jed Lowrie hit a tie-breaking double in the seventh inning as Oakland won at Texas. Rangers slugger Adrian Beltre left the game in the eighth with a strained left hamstring.

MARINERS 1, WHITE SOX 0: Seattle’s Marco Gonzales and four relievers held a host White Sox team off to their worst start since 1950 to five hits. Chicago is 5-15.

DIAMONDBAC­KS 8, PHILLIES 4: Alex Avila homered among his three hits, and Robbie Ray struck out 11 as visiting Arizona upped its NL-best record to 16-6.

ROCKIES 8, PADRES 0: Colorado’s Kyle Freeland and two relievers held San Diego to four hits, and Trevor Story had a grand slam in the Rockies’ win at home.

GIANTS 4, NATIONALS 3: Mac Williamson and Brandon Belt hit home runs in host San Francisco’s win.

MARLINS 3, DODGERS 2: Cameron Maybin’s run-scoring double in the ninth broke a tie at Los Angeles.

BREWERS 5, ROYALS 2: Milwaukee’s Lorenzo Cain and Travis Shaw homered in a win at Kansas City.
