ROBERT “BOB” BROOKS KISER

Robert “Bob” Brooks Kiser of Houston, Texas, passed away on May 1, 2018, at the age of 71. He was born to Walter Brooks and Marjorie Lois (Nimmo) Kiser in Durham, North Carolina, on January 29, 1947. On August 31, 1968, he married Mary Lou (Ford) Kiser in Orange, Texas.

Upon graduating from North Texas State University in 1969, he started as a newspaper reporter for the Oklahoma City Times and The Daily Oklahoman. His career as a public relations profession­al began at Kerr-McGee Corporatio­n in 1976 and concluded with his retirement after 23 years at Columbia Gulf Transmissi­on.

His interests and areas of service included his roles as a husband; father; Scoutmaste­r; Little League baseball coach; ordained deacon at First Baptist Oklahoma City; active deacon at Champion Forest Baptist Church; member of Champion Forest Baptist Church Jersey Village; volunteer with Between Jobs Ministry; and multiple leadership positions, including serving two terms as president (with his wife), in the Bluebonnet Squares Square Dance Club.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, of Houston, Texas; son, Jim Kiser, and Jim’s wife, Holly, of Fort Worth, Texas; son, Mike Kiser, and Mike’s wife, Kate, and their three boys: Lucas, Andrés, and Mateo of Austin, Texas; brother, Scott Kiser, and Scott’s wife, Debbie, of Fredrick, Maryland; sister, Sheri Brimm, and her husband, Wes, of Beaumont, Texas; nephew, Jake Kiser; niece, Lauren Kiser; nephew, Travis Brimm; and numerous friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 4, 2018, at Champion Forest Baptist Church Jersey Village, 16518 Jersey Dr., Jersey Village, TX 77040. In lieu of flowers, please make a gift to support research to cure ALS at www.alsa.org.
