Albies, Bautista lift Braves to win

-

CHICAGO — Ozzie Albies hit a leadoff drive for his 13th homer, Jose Bautista connected for a three-run shot, and the Atlanta Braves held off the Chicago Cubs for a 6-5 victory Monday.

A.J. Minter worked a shaky ninth inning for his second save in the makeup of an April 15 rainout. Minter hit Ian Happ to force in a run with two out, but Kris Bryant lined out to left field to end the game.

RAYS 2, ROYALS 1: Adeiny Hechavarria danced around catcher Salvador Perez with an inventive slide at home plate to score the go-ahead run as Tampa Bay won at Kansas City. Hechavarria dashed home on Matt Duffy's single to right field in the sixth inning, sidestepped Perez to the right, then dove back toward the plate. Hechavarria faked toward the dish with his right hand, then jabbed his left hand just past Perez's outstretched glove to tag the plate. Umpire Rob Drake immediately signaled him safe. BREWERS 7, DIAMONDBACKS 2: Pinch-hitter Tyler Saladino dashed around the bases for an inside-thepark home run after Arizona center fielder A.J. Pollock was injured diving for the ball, and Milwaukee Brewers beat the host Diamondbacks. Pollock dived for Saladino's line drive in the ninth inning, missed and rolled over his glove hand. Pollock, who favored his left arm, was led off the field by a trainer.

ATHLETICS 6, RED SOX 5: Sean Manaea beat Boston again in his first outing against the Red Sox since pitching a no-hitter, and Khris Davis hit one of three solo homers by Oakland in a victory at Fenway Park.

MARINERS 1, TWINS 0: First baseman Logan Morrison's throwing error in the eighth inning accounted for the game's only run as Seattle defeated host Minnesota after a long rain delay.

ROCKIES 6, PADRES 4: Gerardo Parra hit a go-ahead, three-run homer in the sixth inning, and Colorado won at San Diego. GIANTS 10, REDS 7: Andrew McCutchen doubled in his first two at-bats to reach 1,500 career hits, and host San Francisco ended Cincinnati’s six-game win streak. TIGERS 6, INDIANS 3: Niko Goodrum homered twice and had five RBIs, and host Detroit beat Cleveland.
