Malone calls it a career 2 days in
Two days in the Texans’ rookie minicamp was enough for former LSU offensive tackle K.J. Malone.
The undrafted rookie and son of NBA Hall of Fame forward Karl Malone was placed on the reserve retired list
Malone Jr. was a fourstar recruit from Ruston, La., and a two-year starter. He missed six games last season with a knee injury, starting the first six games at left tackle.
Texans add a fourth QB
The Texans were awarded quarterback Stephen Morris off waiv- ers from the Seattle Seahawks.
Morris played collegiately at the University of Miami.
The Texans now have four quarterbacks under contract: Deshaun Watson, Brandon Weeden, Joe Webb and Morris.
Morris has never played in a regular-season game. He has previous stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts and Washington.
Hall retiring after 14 years
Three-time Pro Bowler DeAngelo Hall, 34, has announced his plans to retire.
The Washington defensive back called it quits after 14 years in a decision that had been lingering throughout the offseason. He is now mulling options in the media, as a coach or in a front office.
Hall’s 43 career interceptions ranked first among active players and 63rd in NFL history.
Cardinals knew of Kirk’s arrest
As it turns out, Texas A&M receiver Christian Kirk didn’t help his cause in the months leading to the NFL draft.
According to the Arizona Republic, Kirk was arrested in early February after he and some friends were seen throwing rocks at cars while leaving the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Scottsdale, Ariz., police charged Kirk with criminal damage, according to the paper.
Kirk, who grew up in Scottsdale, was drafted in the second round by his hometown Cardinals, and the franchise told the paper they knew of his arrest prior to the draft.
“We spoke with Christian about it at length and also looked into it independently,” a team spokesman told the paper.
