Memorial Hermann names new CEO for flagship hospital
The Memorial Hermann Health System is promoting one of its suburban hospital leaders to become the next CEO of its flagship hospital in the Texas Medical Center.
Greg Haralson, currently head of both of the system’s Sugar Land and Southwest hospitals, will succeed Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center CEO Brian Dean on Aug. 1, the system announced Thursday. Dean is leaving the job to become the system’s chief financial officer.
“It is a tremendous responsibility and honor to be part of the Memorial Hermann-TMC campus, which has such a storied history and promising future in providing innovative, patientcentered care,” said Haralson. “I desire to be a catalyst for change and innovation to transform how health care is delivered and allow us to serve as a role model for health care providers across the nation.”
As the medical center hospital’s CEO, Haralson also will be responsible for Children’s Memorial Hermann and TIRR Memorial Hermann, the system’s elite rehabilitation hospital.
Haralson has more than 17 years of health care experience, including the last seven as CEO at Memorial Hermann Sugar Land and the last one as head of Memorial Hermann Southwest. Under his leadership, Memorial Hermann-Sugar Land won the 2016 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, recognition of performance excellence given by the president of the United States.
Haralson will be replaced as CEO of Memorial Hermann’s Sugar Land and Southwest hospitals by Malisha Patel, currently vice president of operations at the Southwest hospital. She will oversee care provided to residents of southwest Harris and Fort Bend counties.
