Harper’s homer leads Nats to win

MIAMI — Bryce Harper hit his NL-leading 16th home run and the Washington Nationals completed a three-game sweep by beating the Miami Marlins for the 11th time in a row 5-2 on Sunday.

The Nationals, who lead the league in homers, matched the longest winning streak in franchise history against one team. It’s the Marlins’ longest losing streak against an opponent since 1999.

DODGERS 6, PADRES 1: Rookie Walker Buehler tied a season high with eight strikeouts and Los Angeles beat visiting San Diego. Earlier in the day, the Padres acquired pitcher Phil Hughes from Minnesota for minor league catcher Janigson Villalobos.

BRAVES 7, RED SOX 1: Rookie Ronald Acuna Jr. exited with knee and lower back pain after falling while beating out a hit in visiting Atlanta’s win over Boston.

YANKEES 3, ANGELS 1: Masahiro Tanaka allowed three hits over six strong innings as New York defeated visiting Los Angeles.

RAYS 8, ORIOLES 3: Relievers Vidal Nuno and Austin Pruitt combined to throw 8 2⁄3 scoreless innings as host Tampa Bay beat Baltimore.

ROYALS 5, RANGERS 3: Jason Hammel struck out 10 and Kansas City held on to beat host Texas.

ATHLETICS 2, DIAMONDBAC­KS 1: Matt Chapman hit a tiebreakin­g RBI single off Zack Greinke with two out in the sixth inning, and Oakland beat visiting Arizona.

BLUE JAYS 5, PHILLIES 3: Devon Travis and Dwight Smith Jr. each hit two-run doubles and Toronto beat host Philadelph­ia. CUBS 8, GIANTS 3: Javier Baez had a three-run home run as host Chicago topped San Francisco. MARINERS 3, TWINS 1:Alex Colome earned a save in his first outing for host Seattle, a win over Minnesota. TIGERS 3, WHITE SOX 2: Blaine Hardy pitched seven strong innings to help Detroit beat visiting Chicago. ROCKIES 8, REDS 2: Carlos Gonzalez had a seasonhigh four hits as host Colorado ripped Cincinnati. CARDINALS 6, PIRATES 4: Harrison Bader’s pinch-hit single helped visiting St. Louis top Pittsburgh. BREWERS 8, METS 7: Host Milwaukee exploded for a four-run seventh in a shelling of New York.
