David Randolph Draper, 73, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 21, 2018 surrounded by his family. Born on May 11, 1945 in Belleville, Illinois, he was lovingly raised by his Mom and “Pop”, Irwin and Willie Jane Kaesberg. He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Ralph and Jeff Draper.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 47 years, Karen, the light of his life; his beloved son and daughter-in-law Richard and Carole; adored grandsons, Dylan and Luke and four brothers Dennis, Gary, Mike and Eric Draper. In addition, David leaves behind a host of cherished “in-laws”, nieces, nephews; and many, many good friends from all over the world. David and Karen loved to travel for work and fun. He had a great love for Scotland, the people of Angola and his family and friends. David was considered by all to be a man of high integrity who “never met a stranger” and will be fondly remembered as a wise teacher of unmatched intellect. Faithful and compassion­ate, David will be missed by all who were blessed to have known him in this life.

A visitation with family is planned for Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 10 - 11 AM. The funeral will follow promptly at 11 AM at the Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel, with Deacon Dan O’Dowd of St. Jerome Catholic Church officiatin­g. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Camp Hope - the PTSD Foundation of America, ptsdusa.org. David proudly served in the United States Air Force and it would please him greatly to support those who served our country.
