CHARLENE BROTHERS

-

1928-2018

On May 25, 2018, our sweet, smiling Charlene left this earth to take on her heavenly dwelling with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Charlene was born in Pine Springs, Texas on January 5, 1928; one of eight children to parents Dessie and Charlie Fox.

Charlene was a great story teller, with astounding recall even in her later years. She often shared funny memories of her childhood growing up and working on the family farm with her brothers, sisters, and parents. Following high school, Charlene attended Paris Junior College where she earned her associate’s degree. Charlene went on to work in Houston where she met and married her late husband Clarence “Chic” Brothers, at the downtown Houston First Methodist Church. Together they raised four children; Clarice, Cliff, Carolyn and Cindy.

A magnificent cook, Charlene enjoyed making favorite meals and desserts for her loved ones. She was also an ardent seamstress, spending many hours sewing clothing, including prom dresses, for all of her girls. Later in life, she spent many loving hours making beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren to enjoy, and volunteered at several charitable organizations. Charlene also loved being outside, digging and planting in her backyard flower garden.

Charlene is proceeded in death by her parents and most of her siblings, survived by her younger brother Anderson “Doll” Fox. Charlene will be missed by her children and their families, eldest daughter Clarice Whitney, husband David and their sons Alex and Kyle; son Cliff Brothers, wife Arlette and son William Brothers; daughter Carolyn Ealey, husband Rick, their daughters Allison Cunningham, husband Richard, Erin King, husband Ryan and their children, son Keaton and daughter Sutton; and Charlene’s youngest daughter Cindy Carmody, husband Rusty.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Charlene’s life will be held at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11 AM. Pastor Jim McPhail will be officiating. Friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects to Charlene the night before on June 8, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM at the Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home.
