ADAM FRANK MALLIA

-

1979-2018

Adam Frank Mallia died Monday night. For three heartbreaking days, his mom, brother and sister-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins and a coterie of friends trekked to the intensive care unit – a testament to the impact this sweet-natured and kindhearted man had on others in a mere 39 years.

Adam Mallia held the quintessentially Texan title of land man since his college days at the University of Houston, and he enjoyed the spectacle of watching a family become millionaires with the stroke of a pen. Adam loved sports and the outdoors, fishing, hunting birds in south Texas or Argentina, playing a round of golf in the scorching Galveston heat. He had a broad, open face and an eager smile. He savored life’s richest moments, like a niece who pronounced Adam as “Ah-Ah” but mastered “Richard” with no problem.

Adam was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Mallia, and his grandparents, including family matriarch Dorothy Davison. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Ann Mallia; brother and sister-in-law David and Leslie Mallia; niece and nephew Emily and William Mallia; aunts and uncles Barbara Mallia, F. John Shepherd III, Joan Daly, Diane and Ira Shapiro, Dorothy and Mike Kaldis, Richard and Cynthia Shepherd, and Patricia Shepherd and Ronnie Crocker; cousins Allison Daly, John and Laurie Daly, Ellen and Steven Dennis, Amy and Daniel Ferber, Leah Shapiro, Ashley Shapiro, Blaine and Lyndsey Shapiro, Megan and Rich Williams, Gregory and Jennifer Kaldis, Nick Kaldis, Frank Shepherd and James Shepherd, Mark Mallia, Wayne and Sherry Mallia, Cindy Spangler, Jimmy Mallia, Carol and Michael Doyle, Billy Huvar, Mike Huvar and Doug Huvar; and many friends.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Brookwood in Georgetown (BiG), where his cousin Ashley Shapiro is a citizen, at P.O. Box 845, Georgetown, TX 78627.
