Woman killed during a shooting that involved Montgomery County officers
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting Wednesday afternoon in the Walnut Cove area.
MCSO Lt. Scott Spencer said deputies were called at approximately 2:30 p.m. to a residence in the 11900 block of Canal Street on reports of a trespasser.
“When deputies arrived on the scene, the female was inside of the residence,” Spencer said. “The female is known to law enforcement and is accused of allegedly breaking in to homes in the area.”
According to Spencer, the female became belligerent, refused to cooperate with deputies and displayed a knife.
“The deputies deployed a Taser and non-lethal forms of ways to subdue the female as she continued to aggressively act toward deputies on scene,” Spencer said. “As the female advanced toward a deputy with the knife in her hand, a four-year and a six-year veteran with MCSO fired several shots at the female, striking her multiple times.”
Emergency services personnel were on scene and administered lifesaving procedures but were unable to save the woman’s life.
She was transported from the scene. Her identity is pending notification of next of kin.
MCSO as well as the Texas Rangers and Montgomery County District Attorney’s office continue to investigate.
