A memorial for Moyses Arreguin sits outside a West Hardy home on Wednesday in Houston. Three people have been charged in Arreguin’s death, who was fatally shot when he came to the aid of a 16-year-old neighbor being robbed.

Three people, including two juveniles, have now been charged in the shooting death of a 29year-old good Samaritan who was trying to save a teen from armed robbers, according to the Harris County Sheriff ’s Office.

A 15-year-old, who is unnamed, was charged Tuesday sometime after authorities released surveillance video of the incident involving the death of Moyses Arreguin, sheriff ’s office authorities said Wednesday.

A second suspect, Gilbert Gomez Jr., 19, was arrested Wednesday afternoon, the Harris County Sheriff ’s Office tweeted.

Gomez is believed to have been the driver of the car seen on surveillance video before Arreguin was killed, the tweet said.

Late Wednesday night, the sheriff ’s office announced a third arrest on Twitter: a 16-year-old, whose name they did not disclose. Previously, the sheriff ’s office said it was possible as many as four people were involved in the shooting.

Arreguin, a father of two, was shot to death late Friday outside of a West Hardy home after a crew of would-be-thieves went after his neighbor Sergio Bruno.

During the attempted robbery, Arreguin rushed over with a baseball bat and beat one of the gunmen before telling Bruno to run inside, the 16-year-old recalled. That was when the welder was shot multiple times, he said.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said at a news conference Wednesday that the shooting was “another heartbreaking incident of just the good Samaritan stepping up, doing the right thing, trying to help somebody.”

“He gave his life so that a 16year-old neighbor could live his life,” Gonzalez said. “He’s a hero.”
