48. MIRANDA LAMBERT
Lambert has always been a survivor. Before she became a multiplatinum force, the Lindaleraised singer worked the Texas scene, which isn’t always receptive to women. She was also, believe it or not, a 2003 finalist on “Nashville Star,” a countryfried version of “American Idol.” (And didn’t win.) But her career sparked with 2005 album “Kerosene,” setting the stage for a succession of singles and albums that made her one of the genre’s biggest stars who can flip from volatile to vulnerable on a dime.
Most Texas musical moment:
Lambert is a huge Beyoncé fan and has sung her praises for years. “I just think she’s the epitome of a diva — in a good way. Everything about her is classy and beautiful.”
