Amy Caraker Herndon died on August 11, 2018, after a four year battle with ovarian cancer. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, John Wyatt Herndon, III, and her daughters Kelsy Melinda Bryant and Abbey Wyatt Herndon, her mother, Audrey Caraker, and her sister, Lori McGraw. She was preceded in death by her father, Don Caraker, and her brother Paul Caraker.

Amy was born in Seattle, Washington, on August 25, 1962. Her father’s career took the family from Seattle to San Francisco, New York, and finally to Richardson, Texas. Amy graduated from JJ Pearce HS and later from Stephen F. Austin University in 1985 with a degree in Design. Amy worked for Stark Carpets for many years. She later joined the design team of Loren Interiors until her illness forced her recent retirement.

Amy and John were married on May 31, 1997, and made their home in Houston. They were active members of South Main Baptist Church where Amy worked each Sunday caring for the infants and toddlers.

Detailed and gifted in her work, dedicated to her family, fun, adventurou­s, and gorgeous, Amy will be sorely missed on this earth, and now will be lovingly welcomed in heaven.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 14 at 11:00 am at South Main Baptist Church, 4100 Main Street, Houston, Texas 77002. Following the service family and friends will gather in the Fellowship Hall at the Church.
