SAMUEL W. ARMSTRONG
1950-2018
Samuel Webster Armstrong was born on December 17, 1950 in Houston, Texas to Lorenzo Dow Armstrong and Georgia Addie Thornton Armstrong. Sam grew up in Pasadena, Texas and graduated from Pasadena high school in 1969. He attended and graduated in 1975 from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelors degree in accounting. After graduating from college, Sam went to work for the State Comptrollers Office of Texas and had a successful career for twenty eight years. After retiring from the State Comptrollers office, he worked for KPMG for nearly five years and finished his career working contract audit for the State Comptrollers office.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Viki Armstrong; his daughter Joanna McEntire and her husband Gary McEntire of Fulshear; three grandsons, Bryce McEntire, Cameron McEntire, and Mason McEntire. He is also survived by several Aunts and Uncles; Grace Kantz, Jimmy & Frances Thornton, Henry & Ginger Thornton and numerous cousins. He is also survived by his grand dogs, Maddie and Lucy.
Sam lived in the Katy area for many years prior to moving to Fulshear 6½ years ago. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Fulshear, where he was an active member of the United Methodist Men’s Group, where he enjoyed the fellowship
and the community services within that group. Sam was a loving husband and dedicated to his family. He enjoyed travel, cooking, reading, finding unusual and delicious out of the way eateries, but most of all spending time with his family.
Samuel Webster Armstrong passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 67.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church, in Fulshear, 8201 Harris St., Fulshear, Texas 77441 where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, with Rev. Cary Wilkins officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Chita Cemetery in Groveton, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Gary McEntire, Bryce McEntire, Cameron McEntire, Mason McEntire, and Gordon Wheeler.
