Rosalie Bryan Tipton passed away Tuesday, August 14 at the age of 81 with her loving husband of 55 years Franklin Eugene Tipton by her side. She was born in Durham, North Carolina to Lola Blanche Bryan and William Arnold Bryan on April 27, 1937. A graduate of Duke University, she was a mathematic­s teacher in North Carolina before moving to Midland, Texas near her beloved sister Frances. She continued teaching in Midland, where she met her husband Eugene, and in Houston where they raised their three children. A dedicated mother and grandmothe­r and perpetual teacher at heart, Rosalie was tireless in her efforts on behalf of her children’s and grandson’s education.

Rosalie is preceded in death by her parents, her brother William Bryan, her sister Frances Robnett and husband Joseph Robnett, her nephew Bob Bryan, and her niece Patricia Anders and husband Russell Anders. She is survived by her husband, her son Norlyn Claud Tipton II and partner Missy Yi; her daughters Nancy Kathleen Tipton and Kimberly Ann Tipton, grandson Evan Arthur Conley, sister-in-law Mary Bryan and nieces and nephews David Bryan, Jim Bryan, Sandy and Kerry Armstrong, Linda and Ken Kana, Susan and Ralph Holder and Jim and Edana Robnett.

A visitation will be held at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet St. Sunday, August 19 from 2-4pm. A service will be held on Monday, August 20 at 11am, also at Earthman Bellaire. Donations in Rosalie’s name may be made to Texas Children’s Hospital or National Glaucoma Research.
