BIRMAH JEAN “JEANNIE” KEARNS

Birmah Jean “Jeannie” Warrington Kearns was born on July 23, 1926 and has gone to her Heavenly home on August 24, 2018. She was born in Sioux City, IA and was raised in Houston, TX. She attended Reagan High School and was a graduate of the University of Texas in Austin in 1949. While attending the University of Texas, she joined Gamma Phi Beta sorority and was active in the organizati­on for many years following graduation. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Ernest and Ruth Warrington, her sister Betty Warrington, her aunt Margaret Moore Warrington and the love of her life, her husband of 38 years Dr. Edward E. Kearns.

Jeannie was an Elementary School teacher in San Antonio, TX and in Houston. She also was the Office Manager for Dr. Kearns. She loved her Catholic faith. She attended St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Memorial Park. She was also extremely proud of her Irish American heritage and was the driving force behind the Houston St. Patrick’s Parade for nearly 40 years. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for many years. Jeannie also co-founded a charity called Project St. Brendan, which brought Irish seminary students over from Ireland to become priests in Texas. Jeannie was always kind, loving and she was quick to give you her winning smile.

Jeannie’s greatest role was mother to her six children, Mary Kearns, Patrick Kearns, Maureen Kearns Clapp, Michael Kearns, Terrance Kearns and Kenneth Kearns. She was a wonderful mother in marriage to Connie Kearns, David Clapp, Stacey Kearns, Kelly Kearns and Jennifer Kearns. Her grandchild­ren, Sean Kearns (Janelle), Julianne Clapp Weaver (Joe), Barbara Jean Clapp Thompson (Chad), Matthew Clapp, Travis Clapp, Hannah Kearns, Kaitlyn Kearns, Gabriel Kearns, Anthony Kearns, Caitrina Kearns, Kyle Kearns, Ryan Kearns and Brooke Kearns, were her greatest treasure. She was also blessed with five great-grandchild­ren, Conner Kearns, Gage and Grayson Weaver, Charlotte and Russell Thompson.

Visitation will be held at Earthmann Funeral Home, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024 on Tuesday August 28, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 PM with a rosary recital at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell St. Houston, TX 77007 on Wednesday August 29, 2018 at 12:00 PM, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1101 Antoine Dr. Houston, TX 77055. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Houston

St. Patrick’s Parade, 10220 Memorial Dr. #129, Houston, TX 77024.
