Joe Davis’ life journey began in Marked Tree, Arkansas on July 21, 1935. Loving family and friends helped to shape Joe’s dedicated work ethic and zest for life. After graduating from the University of Arkansas, Joe married his sweetheart, Mary Catherine Cobb. Their first adventure together was a stint in the Army with the most outstandin­g components being Artillery School at Ft. Sill, OK, Flight Training in San Marcos, TX and finally completing his military service at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX as a First Lt., flying the L-19 and L-20.

After the Army, Joe attended Veterinary Medical School at Oklahoma State University. Upon graduation in 1965, Joe and Mary Catherine made Houston, Texas their home. Soon thereafter Joe began his veterinary career, practicing at his beloved Village Veterinary Clinic where clients, patients and associates were treasures of Joe’s heart. He was a member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, serving as Education Coordinato­r, Administra­tive Board member, sports coach and most passionate­ly as a Sunday School teacher. An avid golfer, Joe became a member of Riverbend Country Club where he shared his love of the game with long lasting friends.

Joe is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Catherine Davis, his sons Rob Davis and Andy Davis, and Andy’s wife Laura.

Joe’s life will be celebrated at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay Dr. 77024, on Saturday, September 8 at 1:30 pm, with Rev. Mopsy Andrews officiatin­g. A reception at Chapelwood will follow.
