-

1927-2018 (C. J. Reuter) February 24, 1927 – August 31, 2018

C.J. Reuter passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 31, 2018 at the age of 91. He has now joined his loving wife and will spend eternity with Our Lord and Savior. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Billie Mae Reuter, his parents: Christopher & Rebecca Reuter and Evelyn Reuter, his sister, Rosalie Milburn, and his daughter in law, Eloise Reuter. He is survived by his loving children: Chris (Carol) Reuter, Larry Reuter, and Rhonda (David) Wright. He was extremely proud and boasted about his 10 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren and 14 Great Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. C. J. loved growing up in the Heights with his buddies he called The Troubadours. C.J. attended Reagan High School and joined the United States Navy in 1944, during WWII. He loved being in the Navy and telling stories of his time spent on the Island of Antiwitauk. Later, he attended the School of Technology at U. of H. He then became a partner with his father in the Reuter Sheetmetal and Roofing Company. After 20 years in the roofing business he took a position at Geospace Technologies. Later, he worked as a supervisor at Texas Instruments until he retired in 1988. He enjoyed life with the love of his life (Billie) at the “Bay House” in San Leon where he lived and fished by the tide. You could always find C.J. working on something outside. When he was inside, he would write prose and poetry and carve monkeys from peach seeds (like his father did). He loved being creative with his hands. He explored the love of the earth and history while he traveled the world with Billie. He loved telling stories of his life and all of his adventures, especially to his family. C.J. will be missed by all who knew him. His time on earth is done but his memory will live on in the hearts and minds of the people who knew him. He is, no doubt, catching and saving speckled trout in Heaven for us to share at the reunion he is planning, when he sees us all again.

Visitation will be held 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home will the Celebration of Life Funeral Service at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
