Tigers (59-84) update: Prospect Christin Stewart, called up Sunday after Class AAA Toledo was eliminated from the International League playoffs, is expected to play regularly in left field for the rest of this season. He slashed .264/.364/.480 for the Mud Hens with 23 homers and 77 RBIs in 122 games. In his big league debut, he popped out as a pinch hitter to end Sunday’s 5-2 loss to the Cardinals, which snapped Detroit’s four-game winning streak. … Nicholas Castellanos is hitting an MLB-best .398 (53-for-133) versus lefthanders. He’s hitting .261 (109-for-417) against righthanders. … Liriano’s win in last Tuesday’s start against the White Sox was his first since April 28.
