Butler booed as T-Wolves beat Cavs

MINNEAPOLI­S — Jimmy Butler brushed off some early jeers from the jaded home crowd, scoring 33 points in 36 minutes to lead the Minnesota Timberwolv­es past the Cleveland Cavaliers 131-123 on Friday night.

Butler made 10 of 12 field goals and 12 of 12 free throws, with seven rebounds, four steals and three assists to help the Timberwolv­es hold off a late charge by Kevin Love and the LeBron James-less Cavaliers.

Love had 25 points, 19 rebounds and seven assists against his former team, but the Cavaliers (0-2) have a lot of work to do to become a contender again after James bolted for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Kawhi Leonard had 31 points and 10 rebounds, Serge Ibaka added 21 points, and host Toronto beat Boston in an early matchup between Eastern Conference contenders.

PELICANS 149, KINGS 129

Nikola Mirotic scored 36 points, Anthony Davis had 25 points and 10 rebounds, and New Orleans continued its torrid start to the season with a win over visiting Sacramento.

Kemba Walker scored 26 points, and Nicolas Batum had 15 to lead Charlotte to its 12th straight win over host Orlando.

Caris LeVert’s driving layup with a second left gave him a career-high 28 points and helped host Brooklyn defeat New York for its first victory of the season.

Giannis Antetokoun­mpo had 26 points and 15 rebounds, and Khris Middleton added 25 points to help host Milwaukee beat Indiana.

GRIZZLIES 131, HAWKS 117

Newcomer Garrett Temple scored 30 points, and rookie Jaren Jackson Jr. added 24 as Memphis-coasted to a win over visiting Atlanta.

Danilo Gallinari and Tobias Harris scored 26 each, and host Los Angeles beat Oklahoma City.

Jonas Jerebko made a go-ahead tip shot with 0.3 seconds left, and Golden State won at Utah.
