STACIA SPILLANE

-

1946-2018

Stacia Ann Spillane, beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018. Stacia was born April 9, 1946 in Morristown, NJ, daughter of the late Leo J. Spillane and Kathryn Grady Spillane. She was the oldest of seven children.

Her education included a BS in Education from University of St. Mary, Leavenworth, KS; MS degree in Counseling from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL; and a PhD in Industrial Education from Texas A&M University. Her career spanned several decades of teaching, guidance and research with Houston Independent School District and Rice University.

Stacia is survived by six siblings: Margaret Steinhoff (Henry, deceased) Houston; Jerry Spillane (Molly) Westfield, IN; Kathi Fiedler (Linwood) Willow, AK; Janet Davis (Robert) Houston; John Spillane (Bernadette) Littleton, CO; and James Spillane (Nancy) Houston. She is also survived by several adoring nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Stacia had many loves: travel, good books, Bible studies, the Galveston beach, homeless dogs, party games, and every kind of celebration, but her great love of family was the central force of her life. As a supportive aunt she attended countless sporting events, plays, recitals, concerts, graduations and birthdays. As a sister she enjoyed nothing more than everyone being together and taking “just one more photo” to commemorate the event. As a daughter she was a steadfast caregiver for her mother in her last years. Her presence will be greatly missed and the party will never be the same.

Visitation will be at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston 77079 on Friday, October 25th, 6-7 PM, Rosary at 7. A Funeral Mass will be at St. John Vianney Catholic Church at 10:30AM, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trails, Houston 77079. Interment will immediately follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Rice Magnet School Memorial Garden in Stacia’s name.
