THOMAS CASSELL
1944-2018
Thomas Malone Cassell, 74, died peacefully in his sleep at his home on October 12, 2018 in Keller, Texas.
Tom graduated from Texas Tech University. He was a financial advisor to dozens of municipal utility districts (MUDs) from the 1970’s until his retirement in December of 2000. He was a pioneer, one of the first to realize the feasibility of financing the infrastructure for suburban real estate with municipal bonds. He was a stalwart for transparency and an advocate for full disclosure to potential bond holders. Tom’s professional legacy is his contribution to establishing industry standards for MUD financing and providing relatively affordable housing in MUDS located in the unincorporated areas surrounding Houston.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Albert Cassell of Lubbock, Texas and his brother, Gary Cassell of Marble Falls, Texas. Thomas is survived by his beloved wife, Robin Cassell; his brother, Emory Cassell of Columbia, SC; son, Cash Cassell; stepdaughter, Melissa Pfitzer; grandchildren, Ty Davidson, John Pfitzer and Cora Cassell, and step-grandchildren Ben Pfitzer and Leah Pfitzer.
