No distractions

-

Regarding “New methods needed to cut teen car deaths” (Outlook page, Wednesday): One household technique for instilling safety consciousness in a newly licensed teen driver is to absolutely prohibit, for one year, the use of all electronics — cellphone, radio, audio player — while driving and forbid having any passengers other than one’s parents.

Absence of such distractions improve a young driver’s ability to focus on the roadway, allowing more thorough development of the experience necessary for responsible behavior behind the wheel. J. Reynolds, Houston
