LAVETTE PHILLIPS

-

1940-2018

LaVette Phillips passed away at 77 years old in hospice care and the loving presence of her family.

Born in Liberty, Texas, she was a proud graduate of Deer Park High School, and, in 1960, married George Phillips Jr., the love of her life for more than 58 years.

As a young woman, LaVette joined Transco Energy Company, where she climbed from the secretarial pool to a legal administrator’s office in her more than 30 years with the company. Taking the lead on many projects, she proved to be an energetic and valued team member, who always strived to do her best.

A faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Houston for decades, she traveled on many mission trips and helped lead teams during Walk to Emmaus spiritual retreats, which she greatly loved.

LaVette enjoyed travel and her adventurous spirit took her across the country many times and to Europe and the Middle East.

At home, she dedicated her life to her family and friends, and everyone who knew her felt the love and generosity of her sweet and forgiving spirit.

She is survived by her loyal husband George, her sister, Bebe Burns, her sons, George Phillips III, and Lou Phillips, her daughter-in-law, Rhonda, her grandsons, Matthew, and Aubrey, her granddaughter-in-law, Ashley, and her beautiful great-granddaughters, Camryn LaVette and Ryleigh Michele.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00am, Friday, November 16, 2018, in the Chapel of Angels of Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Alzheimers Association at Alz.org.
