Tyson Thompson, Klein

Notable: In a win-or-go home Week 11 showdown against College Park, Thompson had five catches for 195 yards and three touchdowns plus an 85yard punt return for a touchdown and two intercepti­ons. Cameron George, Elkins: George accounted for four touchdowns, including two on the ground, as part of 204 yards on 21 carries in a 35-21 victory over Fort Bend Austin that sends Elkins to the playoffs. He also threw for 259 yards. His 42-yard touchdown run in the final minute decided the game. Johnathan Gooden, Second Baptist: The cornerback’s pick-six beat Luthern South in overtim,e and the victory gave Second Baptist the district

title. Peyton Matocha, St.

Thomas: Matocha completed 15 of 29 passes for 299 yards and two touchdowns in a 52-49 victory over St. Pius X that gave the Eagles a district championsh­ip.

Girls

Telisha Brown, Wheatley

Notable: Brown scored 205 points in five games, including 52 against Cypress Park, leading her team to second place in the Brookshire Royal tournament. Brown averages 37.8 points per game. What coach Dedreck Carr said: “She’s currently one of the top scorers in the nation.”

Point: Fields had 13 kills in a sweep of Dawson in the Region III-6A volleyball title game that sends Ridge

Point to the state tournament for the first time. Alexandra Lewis, St. John’s: Lewis had 45 assists and 13 digs in a fourset victory against Episcopal for the SPC volleyball championsh­ip. Andie Unwin, Kingwood Park: Unwin totaled 27 assists and 11 kills in the Region III-5A volleyball championsh­ip as Kingwood Park topped Friendswoo­d in four sets.
